IKEA is opening a third store in Romania, on the outskirts of Timisoara.
The land has been purchased in Dumbravita and, to improve traffic flow in the area, a roundabout will also be built. This will be the first IKEA store outside of Bucharest and it is estimated the building will be completed in three years. The mayor of Dumbravita, Victor Malac, has confirmed for Mediafax the issuing of a building permit for the retail company.
Currently, Ikea has opened a single store in Romania, in Bucharest, in the Baneasa commercial area, and last fall, the foundation stone was laid for the second one to be built in the capital, Theodor Pallady area. The opening of the IKEA Pallady store is set for late this summer.
IKEA Group owns and operates 355 stores in 29 countries. In the financial year 2017 (1 september 2016 – 31 august 2017), the IKEA store in Bucharest has been visited by 3,3 million persons and 7,5 million unique visitors entered on the website www.IKEA.ro
