evoMAG estimates a 30% increase in TV sales in the period from May to July, primarily driven by the increased interest of the Romanians in watching the World Cup football matches. The increase in the TV category on evoMAG.ro is reported in the similar period last year.
“Romanians’ passion for football is also seen in the retail electro-IT business. By the end of the World Cup, we expect to sell over 4,000 TVs on evoMAG, a plus of over 30% over last year. At the year-on-year level, we estimate a 20% increase in TV sales, generated by both the Romanians’ desire to watch this summer’s football matches on high performance TVs and the diversified offer that we will continue to have category of products, “says Mihai Patrascu, evoMAG CEO.
The TV category has also recorded an increase in the average purchase price since the beginning of the year, a consequence including the increase in the purchasing power of the Romanians. Unlike last year, customers are willing to pay more for a TV if they have the latest generation of technology. The average price for a TV has risen from 1,500 lei in 2017 to over 1,800 lei this year.
