Museum leadership, the main theme of the second edition of „Museums Meet Museums” Prestigious international experts are invited to speak at the second edition of the international seminar „Museums Meet Museums” to take place on October 5 and 6, at the National Museum of Art of Romania in Bucharest. „One dream. One vision. One Museum. Museum leadership” is the main theme of this year’s edition of the cultural event organized by the the National Network of Romanian Museums and supported by the National Cultural Fund Administration (AFCN), The Romanian Cultural Institute and the French Institute. „Museums Meet Museums 2018” will bring together in Bucharest one of the most important international specialists in the museums field who will share their experiences in leadership, this extremely important concept nowadays in the development process of the cultural institutions. The Romanian professionals will have the opportunity to listen to Marsha Semmel, a renowned independent American museum expert who inspired Nina Simon’s activity (she was present in Romania last year at „Museums Meet Museums” seminar), to Diane Lees CBE, Director General, Imperial War Museums, and to Alex Saint, founding-director of Creative Tourist Consults, an innovative consultancy in Manchester which helps cultural partnerships work together to create dynamic cultural destinations. Along with them, other museum experts will speak at the seminar: Jasminko Halilović, the founder and director of the War Childhood Museum in Sarajevo, André Delpuech, the director of The Museum of Man in Paris, France, Andreas Heinecke, social entrepreneur and the creator of „Dialogue in the Dark” exhibition, Claude d’Anthenaise, director of the „Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature” in France, and Pierluigi Sacco, Professor of Cultural Economics at IULM University in Milan and Director of the FBK-IRVAPP Research Institute for the Evaluation of Public Policies in Trento, Italy. Romanian experts will join the foreign specialist: Virgil Nițulescu, the President of the National Network of Romanian Museums and Ciprian Ștefan, the manager of „ASTRA” National Museum Complex in Sibiu. The lecturers will talk about several themes such as the museums seen as a community resource for citizen empowerment and social inclusion, the influence of certain dramatic historical moments over society which generated dreams transformed into museums or the ways in which museums can contribute to the development of new life habits, new forms of learning and new social patterns. The National Network of Romanian Museums (RNMR), the organizer of the international seminar „Museums Meet Museums 2018”, is the largest professional organization dedicated to the Romanian museums, with over 71 museums as members. One of the most popular projects developed by RNMR is The Night of Museums, a large-scale national event that brings together hundreds of thousands of visitors every year, being one of the most successful Romanian cultural programs.
