eMAG, the largest online retailer in Romania, estimates that this year, by Black Friday, on November 16, the total value of orders will amount to 400 million lei.
The retailer has prepared discounts of 220 million lei and, together with over 6,000 Market Sellers in the marketplace, is offering customers 3 million products for the 16th of November.
One year ago, the increase in Black Friday orders exceeded expectations. This year, orders will be delivered by November 28.
“Black Friday is the most anticipated shopping event of the year.” According to the studies we are making, nationally representative studies, 88% of Romanians know about Black Friday, only 27% in 2012. Compared to last year, an increase of 9 percentage points, from 79% to 88%, 51% said they intend to buy something Black Friday vs. 16% in 2012 and 44% last year,” Iulian Stanciu, eMAG CEO explained.
This year’s Black Friday logistics is also supported by the new bulk storage facility built in 11 months. With an area of 126,000 square meters and a capacity of 2 million large and medium volume products, the new space is the largest warehouse in South East Europe, built by the Romanian company Bau Construct.
This year, the Black Friday 2018 eMAG offer will include 50,000 TVs, 76,000 smartphones, 20,000 laptops, 21,000 refrigerators, 15,000 washing machines, 165,000 small appliances, 235,000 fashion products, 100,000 perfumes and cosmetics, 300,000 games and toys, 190,000 tires, 300,000 home and garden products 30,000 sports items and equipment.
Among the special products on offer are 22k gold coins and 24k gold ingots, cars (Ford, Skoda, Volvo, Honda, Suzuki, BMW etc) including a BMW8, motorcycles (Aprilia, Piaggio, Kawasaki etc) and luxury jewelery (Cellini, Diamanti, Galt, Teilor), tickets to sports events: Formula 1 (Austria, Italy, Hungary), Champions League finals Madrid 2019, event tickets (Concert Metallica Concert Andre Rieu Concert Maroon 5, Electric Castle), tourist packages: 19,000 nights accommodation – summer holidays, winter holidays, exotic cruises and excursions, amusement parks (Disneyland, Europa Park, PortAventura), Vodafone the Smart Black, medical services: medical subscriptions, including Blak Friday), dental subscriptions, unprecedented experiences: rent and castles and mansions, Escape Rooms, Catamarans, etc.
Black Friday is the most awaited shopping event of the year, launched in Romania by eMAG in 2011. In 2018, eMAG invested 2.5 million euros in hosting, cloud and hosting services, on the day with the highest traffic in the year.
