The Royal Marines Band (RMB), the British Navy Representative Orchestra, arrives this week in Romania for an intensive seven-day program, part of the Romanian-British military collaboration for the Centenary celebrations.

The central point on the agenda of the 41 members of the Royal Marines Band that will be in Bucharest these days is the participation in the military parade on 1 December. It is for the first time that such a large staff of a British military orchestra takes part in the national day celebrations, a sign of the close relations between the two countries in the field of defense and security.

Between November 27 and December 3, RMB will also support a joint performance with the Romanian National Defense Ministry’s Representative Orchestra as well as a series of charity concerts organized by the British Embassy in partnership with British nongovernmental organizations active in Romania, such as the House of Hope , Light to Europe and Casa Ioana. The members of the band will also hold a musical session at the National Theater and a concert at Hard Rock Cafe, they will visit the British School of Bucharest and participate in a TV show. Details of agenda items are listed below.

Wednesday, November 28

0900 – 1130: Music moments hosted by the British School of Bucharest.

Thursday, November 29th

1000 – 1200: Charity Concert at the House of Hope, an organization specialized in palliative care.

1900 – 2045: Joint concert with the Romanian National Defense Ministry’s Representative Orchestra.

Friday, November 30th

1400-1600: Jam session music session in the 1st floor foyer of STUDIO Hall, TNB. The event is open to the general public. Participants are asked to appear half an hour earlier and, as far as possible, bring their own musical instruments.
1500 – 1700: Live show at La Măruţă, ProTV.

Saturday, December 1st

1000 – 1200: Participation in the military parade in Bucharest, on the National Day of Romania.

1630-1730: Co-organized charity concert organized by Light to Europe, an organization that supports children and young people with sensory impairments (visual or auditory). Location: Park Lake Shopping Center. Free access.

1800 – 1900: Charity Concert co-organized by Casa Ioana, a non-governmental organization that provides support to victims of domestic violence and homeless families. Location: AFI Mall Cotroceni Shopping Center. Free access.

Sunday, December 2, 21.30 – 22.30 : Representation at Hard Rock Cafe, Bucharest.

The orchestra’s repertoire is flexible and may include military music, traditional British music, soundtracks, etc. RMBs are known to be the most versatile military orchestra in the world.
