For the fourth consecutive year, DHL Carpathian Marathon supports the National Paralympic Committee
This year, the 9th edition of DHL Carpathian Marathon takes place on the 16th of June in a new and spectacular setting, set in the heart of one of the last wild regions of Europe, the Carpathian Mountains in Romania. After the success of the previous edition, with 1,500 attendees at the start, with renowned ambassadors, champions and celebrities and nearly 15,000 Euros gathered from the enrollment fees, donated to Romanian Paralympics, this year’s edition comes with new challenges and raises the competition bar!
The Cheile Gradistei Fundata Resort will be the new location for the Olympic standard Race Village, where both experienced and passionate runners, as well as beginners will align at the start line of the event. “We are delighted that the DHL Carpathian Marathon has become a notorious event for passionate runners and not only. More enthusiastic than ever, we are announcing the 9th edition of this event, which comes with a lot of improvements! We value the race by taking advantage of a new spectacular location and trails on mountain paths to make sure the runners really enjoy a great experience! Since 2005, we have succeeded in creating a tradition, and, more importantly, every year, more and more runners take part in this event. The added value of this competition is the charity component, the participation fee being donated to the cause we support. We continue to contribute to sport performance, encourage young people to embrace the race, have access to an event in the middle of nature, develop and contribute to the expansion of these competitions, and we can hardly wait to see you at the start line, on June 16th!” said Daniel Kearvell, Managing Director of DHL Express Romania.
The 2018 edition of DHL Carpathian Marathon is organized by MPG Romania, the market leader in sports projects for amateur participants, with significant experience including the organization of more than 4,700 sporting events over the last 10 years.
DHL Carpathian Marathon has been supporting the National Paralympic Committee for the fourth consecutive year to identify new talents and for Romanian athletes to be able to successfully represent our country in the Paralympic Games in Japan in 2020. Those who will sign up will contribute directly to this objective, all the funds raised from the participation fees being donated in this direction. Every runner thus becomes a supporter of the Romanian Paralympic athletes, the participation being much more important than the performance itself.
“It’s been four years since we’ve been enjoying DHL’s entire support through the donations we receive from the DHL Carpathian Marathon. We were able to successfully represent Romania at the Olympic Games in 2016 and prepare our athletes for the next Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020. We have many young athletes who promise a lot, who perform and we will be able to offer them optimal conditions and hope that they will fulfill their dreams. We thank DHL Carpathian Marathon for the enduring partnership and for its unconditional support!” said Sally Wood-Lamont, chairman of the National Paralympic Committee.
“Discover new horizons. Make your run count.” is our invitation for runners to take part in a totally special mountain adventure that crosses natural parks and unique wildlife in Europe, many of which are not yet explored by athletes.
