Photographic Tribute to Romania by Expat Women

Charity project ‘Romania through the Lenses of Expat Women’  has released their 11th edition of the photo book, titled ‘From Romania with Love’. Released last summer, the organisers have generously transferred all profits to chosen charities.

Since its foundation in 2010, the project began when a group of amateur photographers combined their passion for cameras with wanting to give something back to the country they were living in. They have since sought to capture the beauty and serenity of the Romanian landscape, its inhabitants, authentic traditions and fascinating history. The project continues to grow in strength, adding new participants every year, this year reaching a record number of 39 participants from 19 countries, including Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, Czech Republic, Ireland, Italy, Germany, Malaysia, Panama, Poland, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Turkey, UK and USA. Through their combined creative venture, these expat women have been able to raise funds for charities by visualising their unique experiences of Romania while supporting local communities in need.

Maria Kearwell, editor in chief, said: “Despite challenges brought by COVID-19, we successfully managed to publish the photo book, even this year. I am convinced that we can raise sufficient funds to support five local charities – Casa Ioana, Hope Rescue Centre, Open Door Foundation, Necuvinte Association and Te Aud Romania – who have also encountered significant obstacles during this pandemic.”

The women took part in various photography workshops on portrait, composition, and architectural photography supported by a jury of professionals: Monica Bommer-Neuner (MOtography by MBN), Bogdan Dinca (Photo journalist/Documentaria), Dan Draghicescu (Producer Chainsaw Film Productions & Pink Stripe Group) and Helmut Ignat (National Geographic Romania).

The high standard of amateur photography makes no exception in this 11th edition, and makes a perfect souvenir or present, while supporting a good cause.
