The organizers of the Night of Museums, an event holding its 14th edition this year, prepared ten documentary shorts, presenting unseen aspects from the history of ten museums in Bucharest.
Museum Night, organized by the National Museum of Romania Network (RNMR), will take place on May 19th with the participation of about 150 partner institutions and organisations in Bucharest and Romania. A significant cultural event dedicated to the museum circuit and related events, Museum Night invites the public on Saturday evening, May 19, to discover this year’s cultural offer of museums, cultural organizations, associations and art galleries in Bucharest and in the country.
Every year the cultural offer has diversified and, in 2018, Museum Night brings to the landscape a new ingredient. It is a series of ten documentary shorts which present the unknowable and unseen aspects of the 10 museums in Bucharest, members of the RNMR. Through this event, funded by the National Cultural Fund Administration and through the collaboration with the Romanian Television Society, it is hoped to consolidate the Museum Night brand as a social phenomenon that will increase the interest of local communities for museums.
The role of the storyteller is claimed by well-known actress Maia Morgenstern, who was pro-bono involved in this cultural project that aims to raise awareness around the social and educational value of museum collections.
