Fintech Revolut announces the launch of its services in Romania. Users in the country will soon be able to open an in-app current account in less than three minutes, make free domestic and international transfers and spend money abroad without commissions.
Revolut will open an office in Romania in May, announced Andrius Biceika, Head of Country Managers, on the stage of the Emerging Fintech for the Real Economy conference in Bucharest. Formed from a Country Manager and a small marketing team, the local Revolut team will be responsible for the growth and development of the Romanian market.
Revolut allows users to open a current account in the app in minutes, make free domestic and international transfers, hold and exchange 25 in-app coins using the real exchange rate (interbank) and spend money around the world in 130 coins, free of charge, and hidden fees, using a contactless card VISA or MasterCard.
Established in July 2015 in London by Nikolay Storonsky and Vlad Yatsenko, Revolut wants to become an alternative to a current account for managing the entire financial activity of its users. Users will be able to opt for services such as direct debits, “Vaults” intelligent savings deposits, travel insurance based on geolocation and exposure to cryptomonas. They can also buy and trade Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum.
The fintech company has so far attracted more than 1,800,000 users and processed transactions of over $ 12 billion. Revolute customers receive notifications as soon as they spend money, see spending on categories, have access to budgeting tools and increased security measures such as the ability to use free of charge single use virtual cards or to activate location and proximity safety settings.
