Where else could have an AVINCIS wine range be relaunched… if not in Drăgășani? In a serene place where tradition blends with modernity, the VILA DOBRUŞA domain was the meeting place for more than 300 guests who had twice the reasons to celebrate: the seven years anniversary of the first AVINCIS picnic held on the second day of Pentecost and the relaunch of the Dew Lord wines, with their new labels being presented for the first time.
In a natural setting reminiscent of the Tuscan hills, AVINCIS’s friends have discovered the grand domain, learned how the internationally awarded wines are being produced and enjoyed Praid cheese, whose taste was enhanced by the flavors of the Dew Lord wines, everthing whilst Alex Porro & Band and soprano Adina Sima enchanted everyone with their music and transformed the experience into an unforgettable one.
From the mystery of love lost in the morning dew, three versions of the same Oltenian legend were reborn: the Dew Lord White, the Dew Lord Red and the Dew Lord Rosé, the novelty of the range. The balanced and young wines, which combine the best grape varieties at the AVINCIS winery, were carefully developed under the guidance of the AVINCIS oenological board, including French oenologist Ghislain Moritz, an Italian consultant at Giotto Consulting SRL, representatives of winery and, last but not least, the owners, Valeriu and Cristiana Stoica.
The new label of the Dew Lord was created by Cristiana Radu, the illustrator known mainly in the world of children’s books, where she has an impressive record – after having illustrated a graphic concept for Baroque Books & Arts. The label shows the legend of the in love prince, thanks to suggestive images.
“The new Dew Lord wines , produced in 2017, are an homage to love, the very name of the collection sending to the legend of the prince traveling through the Drăgăşani vineyards, a lover melted by the Sun’s rays in the morning dew. Harvesting is done manually so that the grapes remain as intact as possible. Then the grapes are sorted for the second time and only the ripe and healthy ones are chosen, and after the clusters are removed, they are fermented in stainless steel tanks with the most modern technology available. The result is an enticing, light, aromatic wine with different bouquets”, delcared Andreea Micu, owner of the AVINCIS winery.
The Dew Lord in White 2017 is a blend of 50% Muscat Ottonel, 30% Crâmpoșie Selecționată and 20% Sauvignon Blanc, the result being a delicate, light lemon-green wine, with a citrus bouquet, strong fruity notes and subtle floral hints with a green apple aroma.
The Dew Lord in Red 2017 is made from 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 15% Pinot Noir. This wine is colored in red-violet tones, having a blackcurrant and blackberry flavoured bouquet.
The Dew Lord in Rosé 2017 is a cuveé wine of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Merlot. Its color is a bright salmon-pink. The bouquet entices our feelings with flavours of fresh strawberries and cherries, with stingy acidity.
The AVINCIS adventure has started in 2007, when Valeriu and Cristiana Stoica discovered their passion for wines during a visit at the Drăgășani house, home of Cristiana’s family. Although none of them seemed to have a podgorian profile – both leading a well-known law firm in Bucharest – they decided to restore Cristiana’s childhood home and bring back to life the remains of the villa.
This way, the foundation to the restoration project has been settled, in order to make the winery enchanting again. The vineyard has known its glory at the end of the 19th century.
In 2011, the Stoica family inaugurated the AVINCIS Winery from Vila Dobrușa, set on a sun-drenched hill, like the famous vineyards of Champagne, Castile, Chile and Napa Valley.
The new wine cellar, designed by architect Alexandru Beldiman, is distinguished by modern and unique architecture and hosts exclusive events and wine tasting sessions.
