About an hour’s drive south east of Brasov, off of road 10 heading south east towards Buzau lies a charmingly quaint and impeccably kept corner of Romania known as Vama Buzaului. It’s a meandering village that follows along the Buzau River where the civic pride is as apparent as the natural beauty. Beyond the beautiful village lies a patchwork of fields, rare and valuable beech forests and the dramatic Ciucas Mountains on the horizon and all contribute to a perfectly contrasting “kept” and “unkept” landscape.
Vama Buzaului makes a perfect base from which to explore this rural idyll, where you can participate in a number of well organised activities amidst the splendour. It’s a pretty ideal area for hiking, horse-riding, mountain-bike riding and a visit to the bison farm is a must. Alina’s guesthouse provides wholesome and wholey comfortable hospitality. Experienced guide and mountain leader Florin will take care of everything.
